How do you create positive change?

I am a big believer that little acts make a big difference.  Sure, it would be nice to wield power from the helm of a well-funded philanthropic organization to make the world a better place.  But, let’s remember.  That NPO is comprised of people.  It makes the job hard and it makes the job worth it.  Each of us has the power to create change.  As I work on this blog, I will update the list.  But, here, off the top of my head–in no particular order whatsoever–are a few:

  • Be friendly and kind
  • Be polite
  • Listen
  • Resist the urge to scream
  • Have patience
  • Give positive feedback
  • Show some empathy
  • Leave judgment behind
  • Plant a garden
  • Help a friend
  • Eat plant-based foods
  • Live within your means
  • Learn what you can live without
  • Remind yourself what matters
  • Read a book that expands your mind
  • Exercise
  • Use your dollar power
  • Spend time with those you love
  • Think beyond differences and seek out similarities
  • Minimize waste
  • Write letters for change
  • Encourage children to explore, grow and love learning

  1. Thank you so much for the positive suggestions in your blog! Believe it or not I was doing a search on “how many almonds should you eat” and decided to click on your HOW icon and I’m glad I did. I encourage you to continue to post positive information because it is encouraging! Thank you
